sometimes we all need a laugh! Enjoy!

Think before you speak....

Here are six reasons why you should think before you speak -
the last one is great!
Have you ever spoken and wished that you could
immediately take the words back...
or that you could crawl into a hole?
Here are the Testimonials of a few people who did...

FIRST TESTIMONY:
I walked into a hair salon with my husband and three kids in tow
and asked loudly,
"How much do you charge for a shampoo and a bl*w j0b?"
I turned around and walked back out and never went back
My husband didn't say a word...
he knew better.

SECOND TESTIMONY:
I was at the golf store comparing different kinds of golf balls.
I was unhappy with the women's type I had been using.
After browsing for several minutes,
I was approached by one of the good-looking gentlemen who works at the store.
He asked if he could help me.
Without thinking, I looked at him and said, "I think I like playing with men's balls"

THIRD TESTIMONY:
My sister and I were at the mall and
passed by a store that sold a
variety of candy and nuts.
As we were looking at the display case,
the boy behind the counter asked if we needed any help.
I replied, "No, I'm just looking at your nuts.."
My sister started to laugh hysterically.
The boy grinned, and I turned beet-red and walked away.
To this day,
my sister has never let me forget...

FOURTH TESTIMONY:
While in line at the bank one afternoon,
my toddler decided to release
some pent-up energy and ran amok.
I was finally able to grab hold of
her after receiving looks of disgust
and annoyance from other patrons.
I told her that if she did not start behaving
"right now" she would be punished.
To my horror, she looked me in the eye and said in a voice just as threatening,
"If you don't let me go right now,
I will tell Grandma that I saw you
kissing Daddy's pee-pee last night!"
The silence was deafening after this enlightening exchange.
Even the tellers stopped what they were doing.
I mustered up the last of my dignity and
walked out of the bank with my daughter in tow.
The last thing I heard when the door closed behind me, were screams of laughter.

FIFTH TESTIMONY:
Have you ever asked your child a question too many times?
My three-year-old son had a lot of problems with potty training and I was on him constantly.
One day we stopped at Taco Bell for a quick lunch, in between errands
It was very busy, with a full dining room.
While enjoying my taco,
I smelled something funny,
so of course I checked
my seven-month-old daughter, she was clean.
Then I realized that Danny
had not asked to go potty in a while.
I asked him if he needed to go,
and he said "No".
I kept thinking
"Oh Lord, that child has had an accident, and I don't have any clothes with me.."
Then I said,
"Danny, are you SURE you didn't have an accident?"
"No," he replied.
I just KNEW that he must have had an accident, because the smell was getting worse.
Soooooo, I asked one more time, "Danny did you have an accident ? This time he jumped up, yanked down his pants,
bent over, spread his cheeks
and yelled
"SEE MOM, IT'S JUST FARTS!!"
While 30 people nearly choked to death on their tacos laughing,
he calmly pulled up his pants and sat down.
An old couple made me feel better,
thanking me for the best laugh they'd ever had!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST TESTIMONY:
This had most of the state of Michigan laughing for 2 days
and a very embarrassed female news anchor who will,
in the future, likely think before she speaks.
What happens when you predict snow but don't get any!
We had a female news anchor that,
the day after it was supposed to have snowed and didn't,
turned to the weatherman and asked:
"So Bob, where's that 8 inches you promised me last night?"
Not only did he have to leave the set,
but half the crew did too they were laughing so hard!

Fooled YA!

This is a cute April Fool's idea!

Freeze a glass of milk over night then top off the glass in the morning. The look on their faces when they can't drink all the milk will be priceless!

New use for diaper-wipe container

Empty diaper-wipe containers can be repurposed for storing crayons and toy parts. They work especially well because they're so easy for little ones to open and close.

Words to a lullaby

Here are the words to the Lullaby "Rock a Bye Baby Thy Cradle is Green"

Rock a bye baby thy cradle is green, fathers a noble man, mother's a queen
and Betty's a lady who wears a gold ring
and Johnny's a drummer and plays for the king!

cute necklace

http://www.sonnyandreed.com/catalog/

This website has necklaces on it that is also a teether for the baby! I am very interested in this product and think it looks like a fun purchase! I miss wearing all my jewelry and this might be a compromise until the real ones can come back out! ;)

Pop a Tot

I have been wanting to order one of these. I need to do it soon so I have it for the summer.

http://www.popatot.com/

It is a version of the bag chair that we adults take everywhere but for a baby. It is a portable saucer seat! A woman in the St. Louis area came up with the idea! Smart woman!

Gianna loves her pop a tot! We went to a high school baseball game yesterday with it and she just played and enjoyed herself! Now I will say this when I took her out of it the wind caught hold and it took flight! I am sure it was funny to watch me with her under one arm chasing down a flying pop a tot! ;)

Shrinky Dinks

I got this idea from The Magic House!

Materials:

Recycled #6 Plastic (clear containers from salad bars, berry containers, etc)
Permanent markers
Hole punch
Scissors
Cookie sheet
Tin foil or parchment paper

How To:

First, save containers made from #6 plastic
Then, cut them into shapes (you can use pieces that are bumpy or have holes). Remember the plastic will shrink in the oven!

Next, decorate the plastic using permanent markers, punch a hole in the plastic using if you plan to use it as a charm, key chin, or necklace.

Finally, put the decorated plastic on a cookie sheet lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Bake at 350 degrees for 2-3 minutes. Keep an eye on the plastic! Watch the plastic as it curls up and then flattens out. This is a sign that the shrinky dink is complete!

clean sheets

I came across this idea in my Parents mag. For neat sheets here is an idea:

To make midnight accidents less of an ordeal, put several fitted sheets onto the bed at one time. Put waterproof mattress-top protectors between each sheet. If your little one gets sick or wets the bed during the night, just peel off the top sheet and mattress-pad combo and tuck the kiddo back in!

Gianna's new hat

I wanted to make Gianna a "girly" hat to wear this spring so I found a solid hat at baby Gap. It is from the boys side since the girl ones all had a pattern. I then added ribbon around the edge because the hat is way to big on her head so I had to make it so I can tie up the back so it can be made smaller. I then added a flower and use a button to hold it in place. She looks so cute and the hat fits her head perfectly!

fun games to play

Here is a link to Baby center's site about games you can play with your little one. There are some good ideas on here.

random ideas

I was reading Better Homes and Garden Magazine and I came across some random good ideas!

*Stir in a few spoonfuls of jam into frosting as a substitute for food coloring. It's an easy way to add flavor, too!

*Check out the website mixingbowl.com
I just looked around and I love it! Seems like a great resource for recipes and ideas! Happy recipe hunting!

* For mess free pancakes mix the batter and pour it into a clean ketchup bottle. Squeeze perfect rounds, refilling the bottle as needed. You can store the remaining batter int eh refrigerator up to two days.

fun website for outdoor gear

http://www.adventuretykes.com/

This site has some great items for taking your baby outdoors hiking or in the sun! I enjoyed checking it out!

How to make Baby wipes

A friend of mine gave me the idea of making baby wipes! I found the recipe on line!

Here is the website I found the information on:
http://babyparenting.about.com/cs/diapering/ht/wipes.htm

Making your own baby wipes will not only save money, but you will know for sure that no harsh or drying chemicals are touching your baby's bottom.

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 15 minutes

Here's How:
Cut the roll of paper towels in half with a knife and remove the inner cardboard core.

Mix liquid ingredients in container.
Place the paper towels in the container with the cut side facing downward.
Secure lid tightly and allow to sit until all liquid is absorbed into the paper towels.

Turn the container upside-down and allow to sit for 10 minutes.
Open container and 'start' the roll by pulling a towel from the inside of the roll.
Wipes are now ready to use.

Tips:
These also make a great gift for new parents. You can decorate or personalize the container and, of course, be sure to include a copy of the recipe.
Save the other half of the roll for use next time you make wipes.
Make sure the container is closed tightly after each use to prevent drying out.
When your baby is older and his skin is less sensitive, you can add about a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol to the mix.

What You Need:
Round plastic container (Rubbermaid #6 or #9 works well)
Thick, strong roll of white paper towels
Sharp knife to cut paper towel roll in half
2 cups water that has been boiled and cooled to room temperature
2 Tablespoons baby shampoo or baby wash
1 Tablespoon baby oil

We were also thinking you might be able to use an empty container of Lysol Kitchen wipes. Just a thought! I think I am going to make these wipes the next time I run out! I wonder how they would work in a diaper warmer I have? Not sure. I will try and let you know when I do. If any of you make the wipes comment and let us know how they work!

A fav toy alert!

I was at Gym class this week and was told by 3 of the 7 moms there that a toy called Sophie is a must have item. So I looked into it and of course found it at my favorite baby boutique Babymoon. It is a rubber giraffe that they chew on. So I bought it and Gianna LOVES it. She chews on the face, feet everywhere! It was around $20 at Babymoon but so far worth it!

tip for chapped cheeks

A lovely lady in our music class gave me this tip about chapped cheeks. She says she uses the Lanolin Advance Nipple therapy on the cheeks. Her theory was that it is for chapped skin and it is eatable. I have been using it on Gianna for a few weeks now and it has helped. Give it a try!

a great article

A friend of mine on Facebook shared this with us and I thought I would pass it along!

recipes

So now I am really coming out of the new baby fog and I am loving it! I am back to making dinner most nights. I have found however the recipes need to be faster and easier to make. My new favorite website is

http://www.campbellsoup.com

I love this site because you can narrow your search down to 4 different sections then from there you can narrow it even more. So far we have loved every recipe, some more than others, but still they were good. Not to mention super easy and healthy. The recipe says calorie count and fat, all that good stuff. YUM!!

Painting

I have already posted the directions for baby paint but I thought I would post again since Gianna just painted for the first time!! It is 2 cup cold water then slowly add 2 cups white flour. Once it is completely mixed put in smaller bowls and add food coloring to make desired colors. Then let them have fun!

Workouts

So Spring is right around the corner so I thought some workouts you can do with your baby would be fantastic to learn about! Here is what I found!

New Mom & Baby Workout
Weeks after your baby's birth your doctor gives you the o.k. to resume your workout program or suggests you
start one. The problem is you have no time, no energy, and sometimes you don't feel like leaving your baby's
side. Don't worry you can jump start your post pregnancy fatloss plan with these 3 exercises that include your
baby.
Side Step Squat Holding Baby
Hold your baby across your arms and close to your chest. Stand with feet hip width apart, shoulders back, and
abs tucked in. Take a big step to the right, push your butt back, and keep your upper body upright as you bend
your knees until your legs are almost parallel with the floor. Rock your upper body and baby to the right while
contracting your abs. Push through your right heel and raise back up to starting position. Repeat on the left
side. Do 1 set of 20 alternating reps.
Pushup Plank Leg Raises
Place your baby on the floor then come into a pushup plank making sure to align your face with your baby's
face. Keep your head and face relaxed. Keep abs contracted, hips up and the butt down and slowly raise the
right foot off the ground a few inches. Lower then repeat on the other side. Do 1 set of 10-20 total alternating
reps.
Decline Crunch With Twist
Sit down on the floor with knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Hold your baby across your chest. Sit up as tall
as you can then lean back until you feel your abs engage. Keep the head and shoulders relaxed and twist your
upper body slightly to the right and left contracting the abs to come back to center. Do 1 set of 10-15
alternating reps. If this is too difficult for you just eliminate the twist and hold for 15 seconds.
Good Mornings
Hold your baby upright across your chest and stand with feet hip width apart in front of your bed. Keeping
your legs straight (don't lock your knees) start pushing your butt back and bend forward so your baby and
upper body hover over the bed. Contract the abs and glutes to return to standing position. Do 1 set of 10-15
reps.
